Commis Chef | Crawley 

Part Time (minimum 24 hours per week)

The Hawth Theatre in Crawley is looking for an experienced, enthusiastic Commis Chef to join our food service department to assist in providing a quality catering service in support of the theatre’s busy programme of shows and events.

Duties of the role:

• To assist the Head Chef with food operations and to produce food to a level which adheres to The Hawth’s well-established standard.

• To prepare and cook food to a consistently high standard under the direction of the Head Chef

• To be in charge of certain sections during service, helping maintain high levels of service and assist with the smooth running of the kitchen

• To ensure stock is maintained at the appropriate level to ensure the efficient operation of all food service activities

• At all times to ensure the utmost levels of cleanliness throughout the kitchen and associated areas of The Hawth in compliance with current and future Food Safety and Hygiene legislation to include the systems put in place incorporating the HACCP management system, maintaining The Hawth’s high Food Safety rating.

The Person

• Previous experience in a similar role

• A good standard of general education

• Food Hygiene certificate

• NVQ level 2 Professional Cooking (or equivalent)

• Be able to meet the demands of the role by working additional hours when required

• Demonstrate numeracy and literacy skills appropriate to the successful fulfillment of the post
