Apprentice Spotlight: Abigail, Dolygaer Outdoors - Activity Leadership, Level 2

I firstly volunteered in this industry and enjoyed it and decided to do an apprenticeship so I could learn first hand the skills needed to be an instructor.

I have learnt how to plan sessions and the processes I need as an instructor to carry out successful sessions for the group's abilities. Other skills I have developed that have helped me with my job role and apprenticeship include IT, time management and communication.

Developing my communication skills has helped me understand a person’s ability and needs as well as learning from other experienced instructors and their style of instructing.

I’ve had fantastic support from the team at Dolygaer, always taking the time to provide information and guide me in the right direction. My tutor at Inspiro has been supportive and was always just a message away whenever I had any questions.

Gaining a qualification on the apprenticeship programme means I can continue to develop and explore further opportunities within the leisure sector. I would recommend an apprenticeship to anyone looking into getting into the outdoor activity sector.
