Energy And Waste Coordinator

Full Time 

Primary objectives and responsibilities for the Energy and Waste Coordinator are:

Develop, implement and manage data services related to the Sustainability team:

  • Provide project support to the Sustainability Team and the Commercial & Finance Director.

  • Take ownership and responsibility for managing and improving the existing data dashboards and data templates for all sustainability reporting and monitoring requirements- including but not limited to electricity, gas, water, waste and transport.

  • Liaise with operational staff and ensure they are being used by centre managers and Regional Directors to monitor and reduce energy and water consumption and improve recycling rates.

  • Develop and verify the use of data analytics for benchmarking, cost forecasting and financial reporting for the existing and onboarding portfolio of properties.

  • Collate data, analyse trends, and identify areas of opportunities for efficiency solutions.

  • Assist in the production of investment appraisals,  prepare data and analysis for the submission of business cases in support of improved efficiencies and carbon reduction.

  • Monitor installation and performance of equipment and report on the same to ensure predicted savings are and continue to be made.

  • Provide any required sustainability data for new projects.

  • Assist in the setting of and analysis of performance against the utility budget across the portfolio.

  • Be the main point of contact for all data and billing services managed by the Sustainability Team.

Waste management strategy and reporting:

  • Work closely with the Energy and Sustainability Manager, Head of Commercial and Operational Teams to ensure legislative compliance with changing legal requirements associated with waste management, including catering requirements to report packaging waste under packaging waste regulation guidelines and food waste recycling regulations in the UK.

  • Assist with the strategic business objective of improving recycling rates from 20% to 50% by 2027 by managing the roll out of glass and food waste bins in all of Parkwood Leisure’s facilities.

  • Involvement in procurement and contract management of our main waste contractor partnerships, ensuring we get the right service from our waste contractors and support where available.

  • Assist with the Energy and Sustainability Manager with the business’ development of strategic plan for waste management, considering Reduce, Reuse, Remove strategy for all waste to sites,

  • Develop our Scope 3 strategy and work with our supply chain to meet/exceed the requirements.

  • Control and reporting of waste management both internally & externally (ISO 14001). This includes assisting catering in formulating a process for the reporting of waste packaging, glass & food.

Training Management at different leisure centre sites

  • Work closely with external stakeholders to understand the training needs in regards to management of sustainability within the site.

  • To assist with sustainability training and associated investment programmes.

Other responsibilities

  • Assist with SECR, ESOS, CHPQA and other compliant record keeping

  • Assist with the collection of data for compliance reporting (SECR and ESOS) and for energy procurement decision making.

  • Manage meter readings from site operational staff and submit monthly to energy consultants for billing and compliance.

  • Assist finance and leisure operation staff in any utility billing queries and support and track through to resolution.

  • Work with the finance team to ensure that utility accruals and billing is correct.

  • Responsible for data platform management and management of the Sustainability Team file structure.

  • Liaising with energy consultants to monitor contractual performance.

  • Engage with and maintain relationships with key suppliers tracking performance against KPIs.

  • Fully support Divisional Business Development Activities.

  • Order processing - PO management.

  • Support and lead on projects and initiatives as required.

  • Produce and develop regular business reports and statistics as required by the business.

  • Review energy market intelligence, and contribute to the implementation of innovative approaches to energy contracting.

  • Provide cover for the Energy Efficiency Manager and Energy and Sustainability Manager as required.
